Bishop’s Palace

Also in Wells is the Bishop’s Palace, home for 800 years to the Bishop of Bath and Wells and now open to the public.  There are 14 acres of gardens to explore, including the beautiful well pools from which the city takes its name.

When my children were small we used to love watching the famous mute swans, who live on the impressive moat that surrounds the palace and ring a bell with thier beaks when they want feeding.
