Glossary for Why Your Life Really Matters: The Podbook

I have coined new term and used more familiar terms in a particular way.

AI   Short for Artificial Intelligence.

Algorithm   A process to be followed in problem-solving operations.

Anachronistic   Something placed in a time period where it doesn’t belong.

Being   The quality of existing.

Becoming   The process of change.

Bit   A single item of information defined as ‘either this or that’.

Communion  Meaning ‘with union’ so a state in which the individual is conscious of oneness with others and the world.

Communion of Souls / Communion of Psyches   Souls/psyches in a state of communion, integrating to create a supersystem traditionally called ‘God’.

Deep Awake State   A state of spiritual awakening.

Determinism   The ideas that all events are predetermined to occur by the laws of physics.

Ecology of Soul / Ecology of Psyche   The interconnectedness and interaction of souls/psyche on the imaginal level of emergence. Also called the psycho-ecology.

Emergence   The process of evolution through which new qualities of existence builds on what has previously emerged.

Emergent Spirituality   The view that spirituality is concerned with an emergent level of the evolving universes, rather than anything supernatural.

Epistemology   An area of philosophy that focuses on how we know what is true.

Ethics   An area of philosophy that focuses on how we should live.

Etymological   The study of the origins of words and their evolving meanings.

Field of Being   The undifferentiated oneness understood with an analogy from physics as a ‘field containing information’.

Generative AI A form of artificial intelligence that creates novel things.

HD   Short for High Definition.

Idea A category on the level of the psyche that we use to make sense of our experience.

Ideating   Using ideas to categorise and put into narratives the information we read in the world.

Ideational Network   The set of ideas with which we make sense of everything.

Imaginal   Nonmaterial Information on the level of psyche experienced as images/copies of sensory experience.

Imagnos  A new name for the imaginal level of reality as an objective domain described by most religious traditions. The Imagnos has emerged from the Cosmos.

Individuation   The process of becoming more individual.

Informational Ecology   The information being read by pastivity systems on a particular level of emergence.

Infoverse   The accumulated past forming pastivity algorithms that govern how everything works in the present. By analogy the hard disc of the universe.

Intelligent System   Another name for a pastivity system using the AI analogy.

Intuition   The sense of knowing something without necessarily knowing why.

Materialism   The philosophy that all that really exists is physical matter.

Mind   ‘Mind’, ‘psyche’ and ‘soul’ come from different linguistic roots and originally all referred to the imaginal level of experience that doesn’t exist in the material world.

Monologuing   Thinking or imagining talking to oneself.

Ontology   An area of philosophy that asks ‘what is existence’?

Pastivity   The accumulation of past information leading to patterns that repeat in the present.  Pastivity systems govern how everything functions. Is govern too strong? inform? shape?

Perennial Philosophy   The idea that there are universal experiences and beliefs underlying diverse spiritual traditions.

Psyche   ‘Mind’, ‘psyche’ and ‘soul’ come from different linguistic roots and originally all referred to the imaginal level of experience that doesn’t exist in the material world.

Psychobiological   A system functioning on the level of biology and psyche.

Psysensing  The psyche as a sense with which systems read their own processing and the infoverse generally.  Psysensing explains how it is possible to experience things that can’t be sensed with the biological senses. This accounts for spiritual experiences and psychic phenomena, as well as everyday experiences such as thinking/monologuing.

Qualia   Qualities that have emerged since the evolution of consciousness, including sensory qualia such seeing something ‘green’ and imaginal qualia such as imagining something ‘green’.

Reductionism   A philosophy that claims more emergent levels of reality can be reduced to less emergent levels and that emergent phenomena are by-products of lower level activity.

Soul   ‘Mind’, ‘psyche’ and ‘soul’ come from different linguistic roots and originally all referred to the imaginal level of experience that doesn’t exist in the material world.

Soulscape   An area of the Imagnos with particular imaginal characteristics that souls create and inhabit together.

Superpsyche/Supersoul   The integration of individual psyches/souls into a supersystem traditionally called ‘God’.

Supersystem   A supersystem is formed by the integration of subsystems.

Supernatural   Something beyond or outside the natural process of becoming.

Thinking   A word used to signify both monologuing (imagining talking to oneself) and ideating (making sense of the world often unconsciously with ideas).  This dual meaning can lead to confusion.

True / Truth   The etymological root of these words is ‘trustworthy’.

Universal Benevolence   Wishing well to everyone and everything.

Unividual   An individual becoming conscious of unity with the universe.

Unividual Communion   Individuals conscious of oneness integrating to form the supersystem traditionally called ‘God’.

Unividualism   A philosophy that supports the evolution of individuals into unividuals by suggesting that science and spirituality are both exploring the one evolutionary process of becoming.

Unividuation   Process through which pastivity systems connect and commune to co-create more emergent levels of evolution.

UP   Short for Unividual Perspective and/or Unividual Processing
